Frequently Asked Questions
2026 Vandal Golf League
The Basics
What time is the shotgun start?
League starts at 5:30 PM sharp every Thursday. We recommend arriving 15–30 minutes early to check in at the Pro Shop and head out to your assigned tee.
What is the competitive format?
The 2026 season focuses on Competitive Match Play. We have moved away from casual scrambles to ensure a more consistent and traditional league experience.
Is the League Championship based on the regular season?
No. The League Championship (Saturday, July 11) is a standalone event. While regular season standings are fun for bragging rights and weekly prizes, they do not dictate the championship outcome.
Handicaps & GHIN
Do I really need a GHIN?
Yes. All players—including the 5th man and all substitutes—are required to have an active GHIN handicap. This ensures our match play format remains fair for everyone.
What if I don't have a GHIN by league night?
Players without an active GHIN will be assigned a 0 handicap index. We highly encourage you to renew or purchase yours via Washington Golf before the season starts.
Teams & Substitutes
Can our team have more than 4 players?
Absolutely. We highly recommend that teams carry 5 dues-paying players. Only 4 will play each night, but having a 5th man makes managing your weekly lineup much easier. As we move toward a mandatory 5-player roster requirement in 2027, now is the perfect time to find that additional teammate. If you currently only have 4, keep looking for a 5th!
How do I manage my weekly lineup?
Captains are given back-end access to the Golf Genius app. It is the captain's responsibility to set the 4-man "active roster" for each week before play begins.
How do substitutes work this year?
We are moving away from a general sub pool. Teams are expected to manage their own spots using their registered alternates. If you must use an external sub, they must have a GHIN.
Can I hit range balls if I'm not playing?
Yes! Registered league members who are not on that week's active roster can hit range balls at the course for free on league night.
